Executing Process Group

The Executing Process Group is the third phase in the project management life cycle, following the Planning Process Group. During this phase, the project process are performed:

  1. Direct and Manage Project Work: This process involves executing the project management plan to accomplish the project's work defined in the project scope statement.
  2. Manage Project Knowledge: This process involves creating, maintaining, and disseminating project information to stakeholders and using lessons learned from previous projects to improve current project performance.
  3. Manage Quality: Here, systematic activities are performed to ensure that the project follows the quality management plan and meets the relevant quality standards. Quality assurance involves auditing processes, identifying improvements, and implementing necessary changes to enhance quality.
  4. Acquire Resources: This process involves obtaining the necessary resources identified in the resource management plan. It includes activities such as hiring personnel, procuring equipment, purchasing materials, and securing facilities.
  5. Develop Team: Here, efforts are made to improve the competencies and interactions of project team members to enhance project performance. This process involves training, team building, and providing support to ensure that team members work effectively together.
  6. Manage Team: This process involves tracking team performance, providing feedback, resolving conflicts, and managing changes to optimize team performance. It includes activities such as performance appraisals, coaching, and mentoring.
  7. Manage Communications: Here, the communication plan is executed, and project information is distributed to stakeholders according to the plan. This process involves generating, collecting, disseminating, and storing project information in a timely and effective manner.
  8. Implement Risk Responses: This process involves executing the risk response plan by implementing the selected strategies to address the identified risks. It may involve taking preventive actions, contingency planning, or implementing fallback plans to mitigate the impact of risks.
  9. Conduct Procurement: Here, the procurement activities are executed according to the procurement management plan. This process involves soliciting bids or proposals from potential sellers, evaluating vendor responses, and selecting the most suitable seller based on predefined criteria.
  10. Manage Stakeholder Engagement: This process involves implementing the stakeholder engagement plan and fostering positive relationships with stakeholders. It includes activities such as communicating project updates, addressing stakeholder concerns, managing expectations, and soliciting feedback.

The Executing Process Group is where the bulk of the project work takes place, and it requires effective leadership, communication, and coordination to ensure that project objectives are achieved within scope, schedule, and budget constraints.
